Brainy's e-Newsletter Number 1 - October 2008

Welcome to this first edition of my monthly electronic newsletters package. The e-Newsletters are aimed at both new and experienced traders and investors.

The package includes:

Information in separate documents (or articles) on each of the following subjects:

  • Share Trading

  • Technical Analysis

  • BullCharts tips and various “How To” information

  • BullCharts Indicators & Scans

Refer to the e-Newsletter Intro sheet for details of how all this works.

This month, there are a number of documents available for you to download. They include three Table of Contents pages, as well as Overview sheets, plus the real articles (see details below).

See the links in the right-hand column to download these first month's articles for FREE!

Share Trading Topics

Included in this month's e-Newsletter package are two articles on share trading.

There is a 3-page Share Trading Overview, including the sorts of things that a new trader needs to consider before taking the plunge and placing their first trade. And it briefly describes the preparation steps, the considerations when placing a trade, and things to do after the trade. These topics will be covered in more detail in future monthly newsletter articles.

And there is a 2-page article introducing the various trading styles that a trader/investor might adopt. It also discusses the importance of having both a trading plan, and one or more trading strategies. The importance of both back testing and paper trading is also introduced. All these topics will be covered in more detail in future newsletter articles.

Technical Analysis topics

A Table of Contents page is included this month, and an Overview page. Both provide an insight into the Technical Analysis topics that will be covered in the coming monthly articles.

Included this month is a 3-page article on Trends and Trendlines, covering the concept of “Higher Highs” and “Higher Lows” (and “Lower Highs” and “Lower Lows”), and how to place trendlines on a rising stock and a falling stock.

There is also a 3-page article on Moving Averages, and the Moving Average Cross-over price chart indicator. The discussion includes situations where this tool could be used to assist with determining a buy or sell situation for a stock.

BullCharts software Information

In the BullCharts article this month is information on various Line Studies and Drawing tools and markers on the Line Studies toolbar.

It is a 4-page detailed "How-To" document which describes several of the key toolbar buttons on the "Line Studies" toolbar and how to use them on price charts.

It covers: Trendlines, Vertical and Horizontal lines (to highlight a price or date), the Cross Hair lines (to indicate the price and date on which you bought a stock), Parallel lines (to mark a trend channel), the Range Info tool to quickly show the price and date range covering several bars/candles, the Time Ruler and Percent Ruler and Trend Ruler to quickly show ranges, the Icon Palette of 30 graphic symbols to drop on the price chart and the Text Tool to place various text annotations on a price chart.

Why BullCharts?

I reviewed the available charting software packages in 2005, and I chose BullCharts as my charting package of choice. My reasons for choosing BullCharts were valid then and are still valid. They are listed on my web site.

What is BullCharts?

The official BullCharts web site says: “BullCharts is an innovative charting and technical analysis system. It provides a feature rich and powerful set of tools with access to the latest strategies from local and overseas authors in analysing the dynamics of the stock market.”

You need to subscribe?

Unfortunately, it is not possible to provide all this information for free. To receive the e-Newsletter package each month you need to subscribe. The good news? The rates are very reasonable.

Not convinced?

It's great value for money! Better than buying another text book that you might not find time to read. By studying Brainy's articles as they become available each month you will effectively be learning about trading and technical analysis and BullCharts in bite-size pieces each month.

Feel free to download all the freebies.

The eNewsletter #1 links - published 22 Oct 2008.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Each of the links below is for one of the articles in this month's collection of eNewsletter articles. You will need to click on each link to open and/or download each one.  The options for open/download are:
  • Left-click on a link, and the PDF file will open in a new window.  Then you can use the browser menu options: File > SaveAs; or you can click on the "Save a Copy" button on the Toolbar. OR
  • Right mouse-click on a link and choose "Save Target As..." from the drop-down menu, and save it to a location on your PC.

SUGGESTION:  When you save these files to your local computer, have one folder called: "Brainys eNewsletters".  You could create this under the "My Documents" folder, or anywhere else that you prefer.  Then under this folder, create three new sub-folders, one for each of: "Share Trading", "Technical Analysis", and "BullCharts".

Whatever you read on this topic, and wherever you read it,
there are some people somewhere who might try to tell you that it is rubbish.
Everyone is entitled to their opinion.
What they really mean to say is either "it is not for me", or
"I do not believe that to be true" (because they have not yet been convinced).
The bottom line is: "There is not one right answer, and different people have different opinions."
